Financial Accountant - Reconciliations & Audit
Salary: Competitive
Location: Clapham Junction or central London
Contract: Initial 3-month fixed term (with strong possibility of extension)
Working pattern: Full-time, hybrid (2-3 days in the office flexible)
A fast-paced and dynamic organisation based near Clapham Junction is recruiting an experienced Financial Accountant to support the finance function through a busy audit and year-end period. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified accountant who enjoys working in a high-volume transaction environment and has strong audit and reconciliation experience.
The finance team is collaborative, supportive and hands-on, working closely together to meet key deadlines. You'll be joining during a critical period, gaining excellent exposure to audits, senior stakeholders and complex reconciliations. The role offers flexibility, autonomy and the chance to make a real impact from day one.
The offices are conveniently located close to Clapham Junction station, with excellent transport links and a wide selection of cafes, restaurants and shops nearby - ideal for lunches or after-work plans.
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller and working closely with the Head of Accounts Payable, this role will play a key part in ensuring a smooth audit process and accurate year-end reporting.
Key responsibilities of the Financial Accountant:
- Assisting with audit sampling and detailed balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring full compliance with external audit requirements.
- Acting as a key point of contact for external auditors during the year-end audit process.
- Supporting the preparation and completion of year-end reconciliations across multiple accounts.
- Reconciling trade debtors and trade creditors in a high-volume transaction environment.
- Supporting the Financial Controller with ad hoc audit work and year-end tasks as required.
Skills and experience required:
- ACCA or ACA qualified (or part qualified) - ideal but not essential.
- Previous experience working in a busy finance function with a high volume of transactions (circa 3,000 per month), ideally within retail or hospitality.
- Strong, hands-on experience supporting and managing external audits.
Experience using NetSuite would be highly advantageous but not essential.
- Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, accessible information.
- Confident communication skills, strong initiative and the ability to hit the ground running.
This is an urgent requirement with the potential for extension beyond the initial contract. The company is open to candidates on short notice and will move quickly for the right individual.
Apply today to secure a high-impact finance role with excellent exposure and flexibility.
